Apache 3In 1975 the Apache was intended to lay 24inch pipes, this increased costs and the pipe size was reduced. Apache has several disadvantages and the vessel above is designed to mitigate some of these. The side lay and reduced height improve safety and increase capabilities. More than $1,000,000 has been expended on this extremely exciting development and its ability to lay large diameter high d/t ration pipes is being recognized. It is not simply the Apache machinery turned sideways as some have mistakenly stated!
