Did 5 weeks on this platform on the Alstrom gear and pumping systems for AMEC on its inception. The flare had so much gas passing through it that compressed air was needed for dispersal of the fumes.
Helicopter from Baku was a nightmare, so old, boarded by aluminum stepladder which was then strapped to the cabin wall for use @ the other end. The boarding guy having strapped the steps up proceeded to place a short batten of timber between the pilot and co pilots seats and this was his seat for the duration of the flight. Needless to say we were not provided with any flight safety equipment, no survival suits ear defenders or life jackets. Luckily..........
