Flaring on Statfjord A.

Statfjord is the largest oil field in the North Sea. It has three platforms, all concrete based with oil storage in the legs. Each platform is connected to a loading bay to allow offloading of oil to a shuttle tanker.

You can go on the deck on Polymariner in the wintertime only wearing t shirts, it was so warm under the flarestack, you would not believe it. Also in the cabins too, believe me. A friend of me now retired was crane operator on Poly. His name is Halvor. He started in 1973 on Zapata Nordic, maybe someone out there remember him.
