Hey, why am I nae there? Best looking crane operator this side of the North West Hutton! lol
Good to see all the old faces again Jim, thanks for posting this mate!
Must admit there are a few faces that I can't put names to either.

Added by Dave Blair. on 09 July 2014.
Dave Blair...best looking crane op? The Van Morrison fan, ageing hippy would never make the FHM most wanted males. Great Crane Op, great bloke.

Would always be in his warm crane cab watching myself, Jimmy Brown, Pete Aitken and Athole Jermison running around in the wet....with the comment, 'I have a problem up here....should I turn down the heater or take off my thermal jacket'?

Added by Andrew Gill on 05 February 2015.
Haha, aye you got me in one there Andy! Good to know you are still on the go, are you still working offshore? I'm retired now, still living up near Peterhead.

Added by Dave Blair on 06 February 2015.
Have just come upon this picture. It's "the other" crew but great times and great crew.

Best to all

Alive and very much kicking Dave. Interestingly enough the TLP was my first offshore job. Got a NRB from John Ormiston for raising a safety issue. I have been a Safety Manager overseas for over 20 years now. Enjoy the retirement in the blue toon.

Often wonder what happened to Jimmy Brown and Pete etc

Added by Andrew Gill on 10 February 2015.
I'm actually still in touch with Pete, he's on Facebook if you do that sort of thing. Also recently managed to get in touch with Eric Spendlow and Bob Baxter. Bob was in electronics. No idea what Jimmy is up to, he was a cracker of a guy too. I met up with Jake Marandola one time up in Buckie, ended up being poured out of a taxi. Aye, John was good at that sort of thing Andy. He tried to either make me quit or find a reason to sack me. Reckon he must have been the school bully when he was a kid. He gave Pete a final written warning over some stupid matter, Pete had never even had a verbal before that. Plus he gave Athol and a couple of other lads written warnings because they wouldn't work overtime one night.

Jez Hardine (as Jock Dodds used to call you) haven't seen you in a long time. Last I saw you was in Asda in Peterhead a few years back. What you up to these days Dez? You back down south?

My father worked for Conoco in the 80s and he was supposedly up at TLP at some point. Anybody remember a Colin Thompson at all?

Added by Shaz on 02 May 2015.
I certainly remember the name but can't put a face to the name. What did he do?

Added by Andrew Gill on 06 May 2015.
I honestly don't know. I know he worked in Scotland for a while and Saudi. The last known whereabouts were China, I think. I know he was on mainland around Summer of 85

Added by Shaz on 07 May 2015.
I remember a Colin Thompson who was I think, a driller or assistant driller with Dan Smedvig on the TLP. Big well built man. Would that be your dad Shaz?

Added by Dave Blair. on 07 May 2015.
Sorry mate, cant help...it was over 30 years ago. Davie Blair may know him as he was Conoco. I was merely a poor contractor.

Added by Andrew Gill on 08 May 2015.
Ah...Davie, I believe you may be right...I remember a big guy for Smeddies...did he live in Cove? I remember Big Bill who stuck the blocks through the Crown..oops and he lived in Cove near Big Ricky but also vaguely remember Colin (I think) from the Cove Rangers bar.
