It must have been very challenging to drill in the North Sea, using such a small drillship. The roll and heave must have been awful. I drilled a couple of wells in the Mediterranean, on a larger drillship, that was difficult enough.

I was AB on the Glomar 5 1972 to 1974 it was rough some times if I remember properly we had 13' draft and about 5' freeboard, controls for the anchor winches were on the main deck, we were soaking wet all day but I was young and stupid then.

1980 name changed to petromar 5. worked on it out of Singapore and Indonesia for my good friend Bill griffin. One local man got killed on my shift 2 am very very sad. hard rig to work lots of down time
