S-61 Helicopter

Fox Mike a good old work horse departing Aberdeen on a winters day, think this was the 1st S-61 imported into UK in about 1975. Had many updates and I last heard of it in 1988 flying out of Sumburgh Shetland.

this is the best helicopter, I started in 1975 and we allways be safe in an 61. And belive me I have many trips from Forus Stavanger to everywhere around in that one.

Fox Mike still has a valid certificate of airworthiness. Registered to British International Limited, so is probably used on the Penzance to Isles of Scilly route.

S61's were around a bit earlier than 74. Flew on them to Ocean Traveler in '71 - days when your 'survival suit' was the little yellow bag you tied round your waist ...

Anyone know where BHOH or BBHM or ??OY ended up?

Added by Roger Pipe on 27 June 2012.
According to The Civil Aviation Authority 'G-INFO' database:-
BHOH UK registration cancelled and recorded as transferred to USA in 2007
BBHM recorded as 'destroyed' in 2002

Added by John Wildman on 04 July 2012.
G BBHM was destroyed by fire at Poole Dorset on 15 July 2002. G ASNL was the first registered S61 in the UK.
